In the age-old quest to find the fountain of youth, people have long struggled to find the perfect antidote to sagging skin, dull, and wrinkled skin. As one advances in years, collagen production slows, and since collagen is the key ingredient to a contoured and sag-less skin, naturally things begin to go downhill. Blow flow likewise begins to slow down, and this causes your face to lose that natural glow.

Time and pollution in the air cause cell turnover to come to a creaking halt, and soon your skin is dulled and wrinkled after too much time in the sun, or smoggy cities. So what rejuvenation treatments can you do to truly bring your skin back to the pinnacle of health and beauty?

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a cosmetic treatment that encourages collagen and elastin production in the skin, and can also increase blood flow, which in turn, assists in restoring your face to it’s youthful peak. During your microneedling treatment, your doctor will penetrate the skin in the area you are targeting with very fine needles. This will create “micro-wounds” that will encourage the skin to heal. As the wounds are healed, both collagen production and skin elasticity are synthesized, which in turn promotes smooth skin texture, less sagging, continued healing of acne scarring or discoloration.

Microneedling creates "micro-wounds" that will encourage the skin to heal.

Is RadioFrequency Heat The Secret Ingredient?

There is a specific kind of procedure called Radiofrequency Microneedling (Or RF Microneedling) which combines both microneedling and radiofrequency energy. RF energy both firms and tightens the skin, and combined with a standard microneedling procedure, it can produce synergistic benefits in your skin.

When radiofrequency energy is incorporated by transmitting radiofrequency heat in between the microneedles that are inserted into the skin, the collagen and elastin productivity rates are increased dramatically.  A handheld device is rolled along the area of skin being targeted, and it delivers short pulses of heat. The microneedles used consist of about twenty-five sterilized and gold plated needles, that are able to puncture the skin nearly painlessly. The energy transmitted through the needles is ble to provide both cumulative and ongoing benefits.

What Will Your Microneedling Appointment Look Like?

Your RF Microneedling treatment must be done at a professional doctor’s office. Make sure your physician is a board certified doctor of cosmetic surgery; you don’t want to trust your face to just anyone! Once you are settled in the room where your treatment will take place, you will be given a numbing cream that will minimize any discomfort you may feel.

Once the cream has been given time to take effect, the handheld microneedling device will be rolled over the desired area, and this process will be repeated until the treatment is complete.

You should expect to discover pinpoint, micro scabs in the day or two following your microneedling treatment. They will naturally come off as the wound heals beneath the skin.

How Long Will It Take To Recover From Microneedling?

You should expect to discover pinpoint, micro scabs in the day or two following your microneedling treatment. They will naturally come off as the wound heals beneath the skin. The true effect will come into focus over the following three to four weeks after your microneedling treatment.

For ideal results, your doctor will most likely recommend three to four treatments, three to four weeks apart.

RF microneedling is also a great option to refresh the appearance of your skin a few years after a facelift or body lift surgery.

When the local anesthesia wears off, you may feel a little discomfort for a short time as your skin is healing itself.

Can I Combine RF Microneedling With Other Treatments?

Even though RF microneedling can deliver great results by itself, you may consider combining it with another treatment for more improvements. During your initial consultation, your doctor will listen to all your concerns and goals before recommending RF microneedling, plus additional treatments.

If you are tired of spending money on all the latest creams and serums, of caking your face with make-up each day, and looking into the mirror only to see wrinkles and sags galore, ask your doctor if Radiofrequency microneedling might be a good option for you.
