If you’re in your 20s or 30s, dermal fillers can be a great way to maintain youthfulness. Dermal fillers quickly add volume to the face where it’s lost due to the aging process, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and restoring plumpness to the skin.

Which dermal filler should you get? The answer depends on three major factors: anatomy, DNA, and skincare routine; additionally, aesthetic goals also play a part in which dermal filler would best meet your needs. Read through this article to learn more about dermal fillers and which dermal filler you should consider using!

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers, such as Juvederm or Restylane, aim to add volume, thereby reducing the signs of natural aging. Many people who opt for dermal filler injections actively take care of their skin but require extra help to slow the aging process down on their faces. Wrinkles and fine lines begin showing up in the late 20s or early 30s because of exposure to sunlight (UV radiation), repetitive facial expressions, stress levels, hormone fluctuations, heredity, and other factors.

Factors to Consider When Choosing Dermal Fillers

The type of dermal filler you should get depends on several factors:

Your Anatomy

It would be best to consider which areas of your body could benefit from dermal filler enhancements. For example, dermal fillers can correct dermal defects (asymmetry of features), augment dermal structures (for example, lips or nose), or enhance certain features (like cheekbones). With so many possibilities, it is vital to know what areas of your body could benefit from dermal filler enhancements.

Your Skincare Routine

Dermal filler treatment requires a commitment, so you’ll need to keep up with your dermal filler maintenance to maintain long-term results. It is essential to note that only medical-grade skincare products such as SkinMedica should be used and included in your routine. SkinMedica is a product line that provides effective skincare. By choosing a SkinMedica product for your daily routine, you can help improve the appearance of your skin and ensure healthy-looking results! If you are going to invest in injectable treatments, it is important to help maintain the results with an effective skincare regimen.

Your Cosmetic Goals

Before deciding which dermal filler is best for you, think about what you would like to accomplish with dermal fillers. For example: how long would you like the results to last? How often are you able or willing to get maintenance injections? What areas of your face are you most interested in improving? Keep these goals in mind as we continue.

For example, dermal fillers that smooth out fine lines and wrinkles are different from dermal fillers aimed at achieving more prominent cheekbones or a more sculpted jawline.

Which Dermal Fillers Are Best for the 20s and 30s?

In your 20s: The ideal dermal filler for someone in their 20s would be a mild dermal filler that gives a subtle effect. You don’t want dermal fillers to be so strong that they look unnatural.

In your 30s: In the early 30s, dermal filler injections may still give you a subtle effect. However, dermal filler injections might not work for you if you have deep wrinkles or areas with little volume in the face since they target signs of aging rather than structural problems under the skin’s surface. In this case, we recommend dermal fillers for young adults who have already taken care of their skin and want a preventative treatment that can help their skin stay wrinkle-free and plump.

Types of Dermal Fillers

If you’re looking for the best dermal fillers in your 20s or 30s, dermal fillers containing hyaluronic acid may be right up your alley. Hyaluronic acid, the main component in dermal fillers, is naturally found in our bodies!

Juvéderm Voluma XC

This dermal filler by Allergan is excellent for adding volume to your face. If you’re young but starting to see your cheeks look a little flat or sunken in, dermal fillers like this one may be able to plump them up again. It typically lasts about 18 months when placed correctly in the cheek area.

Juvéderm Ultra XC

If you don’t necessarily need dermal fillers for your cheeks, but you still want a dermal filler that’ll last, try Juvéderm Ultra XC by Allergan. This dermal filler can help plump up and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles along the face with ease and can also serve as a lip filler option.

Juvederm Vollure

The Juvederm Vollure is a dermal filler used to fill in nasolabial folds (also known as “marionette lines”). It is made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that helps add volume and hydration to the skin. The Juvederm Vollure is recommended for moderate to severe wrinkles and lines on the face (e.g., parentheses lines and other wrinkles around the mouth and nose).

Radiesse

If dermal fillers containing hyaluronic acid are not suitable for you, or you’re looking for dermal fillers that will last even longer, dermal fillers containing calcium hydroxylapatite may be a better choice.

The dermal filler made with calcium hydroxylapatite is called Radiesse by Merz Aesthetics. It typically lasts about 12-24 months when placed correctly in areas such as the cheeks and nose.

Anti-aging Lip Injectables

If you are looking to preserve the youthfulness of your lips and reduce fine lines and wrinkles while improving overall contouring, anti-aging lip injectables are a great option without the need to “plump” the lips.

Lip fillers are a very popular trend. Typically, just one syringe is enough to produce a beautiful and natural result. However, if someone is looking for even plumper lips, or is starting with very little lip volume, then having a second injection about 4-6 weeks later is sometimes recommended. Both Juvederm and Restylane are excellent lip filler products, but product choice will be dependent on your anatomy and desired outcome.

When Not to Get Dermal Fillers in Your 20s and 30s?

Dermal fillers are not for everyone. If you have not yet developed any aging signs, dermal fillers may cause you to have an unnatural look. This is especially true when dermal fillers are placed in areas with minimal skin laxity, such as the lips. The dermal filler may cause the skin to wrinkle around it, thus causing unnecessary aesthetic imperfections. Dermal fillers are much better suited for those who already show fine lines or dynamic wrinkles that need filling.
