For the past few years, body-contouring treatments have become more and more diversified, both at a technological level and in their approach. Aside from the traditional liposuction, several other alternatives, based on modern, more sophisticated technology, have broken into the market, intending to help people lose stubborn fat tissue and strengthen their confidence. Out of all these treatments, one, in particular, has shown remarkable results with a less invasive approach than the traditional liposuction procedure – BODYtite!

Since its 2016 FDA approval, plastic surgeons became more and more accustomed to the BODYtite approach, which uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to tighten loose skin, remove fat, and contour the body. In some instances, they have even paired BODYtite with the traditional liposuction in a procedure called radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis (RFAL) for superior fat cell removal and skin tightening.

Losing unwanted fat cells while enjoying tighter skin tissue has never been easier! Here at the Vinyard Institute of Plastic Surgery, our medical team, led by Dr. William J. Vinyard, MD, FACS, is ready to guide you through your very own body sculpting experience. For today’s blog, we are going to journey through the BODYtite procedure, from early preparation all the way to recovery.

Am I the Right Candidate for a BODYtite Procedure?

Are you promoting a healthy lifestyle? Is your body weight within ideal levels? We have great news – BODYtite is the perfect procedure for you! Typically, patients who opt for BODYtite are the ones who cannot lose those stubborn fat pockets. For these patients, BODYtite will deliver superior fat cell removal and skin tightening results. However, this procedure should not be mistaken for a weight loss procedure since BODYtite cannot replace exercise and an adequate diet.

What to Expect from the Consultation with Dr. Vinyard

During your initial consultation, Dr. Vinyard will assess your complete medical history, followed by a physical examination. Once these steps are complete, he will go over your desired goals and reasons for choosing the BODYtite procedure. With all the information gathered together, we will finally be able to present a customized treatment plan, from the procedure phase all the way to the recovery process, suited for your needs.

Creating a friendly atmosphere weighs considerably in the whole BODYtite experience. For that reason, we are eager to get to know each other better and answer all of your questions before entering the procedure room.

The Morning of The Procedure

You will need to take a few preparatory steps before the procedure. Most of these steps have to do with personal hygiene. Taking a thorough bath the same day using antibacterial soap is essential. Moreover, abstain from wearing contacts, makeup, deodorant, hairsprays, or any other similar products.

While patients sometimes drive themselves to and from the procedure, we recommend that you arrange for a friend or family member to drive you to and from our clinic on the day of the procedure for safety reasons.

Expectations during The BODYtite Procedure

As you enter our medical facility, our medical staff will welcome you into your treatment room, where you will be asked to lay in a comfortable position. Dr. Vinyard will deliver a local anesthetic, ensuring you that the procedure will be performed with minimal discomfort. The next step will be creating several tiny incisions in the treated area for access to the fatty tissue.

This is where Dr. Vinyard will deploy the BODYtite hand-piece, heating up and liquefying unwanted fatty tissue, which he will gently suction away using a small, thin tube called a cannula. Depending on the dimension of the incisions, Dr. Vinyard will assess whether dissolving sutures apply to you or not. Depending on the number of treated areas, your BODYtite procedure will last between 2-3 hours. With the fatty tissue out of the picture, you will finally be ready to enjoy your new body shape!

What to Expect from Your BODYtite Recovery

Day 1-2

Although a less-invasive procedure, BODYtite does imply a few days of downtime, which you should dedicate to resting and replenishing your strength. You will experience fatigue for the first 24 hours, during which you should rest to allow your body to heal appropriately.

As for your diet, adding lots of protein to your meals while limiting carbohydrate intake is essential. Drinking several glasses of water a day is a great way to replenish lost fluids. However, unhealthy habits, such as smoking and drinking alcohol, are strictly forbidden.

The levels of discomfort you are about to experience for the first two days should be minimal and easily manageable with Tylenol. In the case of less-tolerable pain levels, however, you must contact our office immediately.

Day 3-7

Within a week after your procedure, you will return to our office for your first routine check-up, during which Dr. Vinyard will assess your recovery process and give you further recovery tips.

As you gradually regain your strength, Dr. Vinyard will recommend that you include more and more exercise into your daily schedule. The frequent movement will help prevent blood clotting.

At least for the first month, avoiding hot tub baths and swimming is essential. That way, your incisions will have enough time to heal.

Day 8-14

You will gradually recover your strength and be able to resume low-impact activities. Vigorous exercise, however, depends on Dr. Vinyard’s approval – depending on your recovery process, he may permit you to return to running or weight training after two weeks.

As for your garment, two weeks into your recovery process, you will be allowed to remove it for short periods for comfort. However, Dr. Vinyard will ask that you keep wearing the garment constantly for the first 4-6 weeks to minimize postoperative swelling.

The BODYtite procedure comes with a revolutionary approach to body contouring, providing the less-invasive approach many patients were awaiting!
