The tummy tuck is one of the most sought-after cosmetic procedures, known for delivering a tighter, flatter, and more toned abdominal area. Popular with both women and men, the tummy tuck helps get rid of excess skin and stubborn fatty pockets that just won’t go away on their own, even with exercise and healthy eating. This procedure has three variations: extended tummy tuck, standard or full tummy tuck, and the mini tuck. Today, we’ll be taking a deeper dive into one of the most patient-requested tummy tuck options: the mini tummy tuck!

What Does the Mini Tummy Tuck Target?

The mini tummy tuck is especially popular with patients trying to get rid of a saggy or pouchy lower abdomen, particularly below the belly button. Mothers are huge fans of the mini tummy tuck, as it tightens the “womb” area of the abdomen, which sometimes becomes stretched after having children.

The mini tummy tuck differs from the standard and extended tummy tuck because it focuses on the lower part of the abdomen. In general, a full and extended tummy tuck contours the entire stomach/abdomen, waist, upper thighs, and hair-bearing regions, creating a more “cinched” abdomen and waist and lifted upper thighs look. In short, the mini tummy tuck does precisely what the name implies. It is a “mini” form of a tummy tuck targeted at the lower abdomen.

How Is the Mini Tummy Tuck Performed?

The mini tummy tuck is the least invasive procedure out of all three tummy tuck options. Unlike the full tummy tuck, which involves creating an incision along the lower abdomen from hip to hip, the mini tummy tuck’s incision is only a fraction of that. However, like all tummy tucks performed at Vinyard Institute of Plastic Surgery, the mini tummy tuck involves removing hanging skin and fat reduction of the lower abdomen. Additionally, we pride ourselves on making every procedure customized to the patient. When we perform a mini tummy tuck, we’re ensuring that everything—from the incision placement to compression garment—is catered to your body, goals, physique, and satisfaction. All tummy tuck treatments are done under general anesthesia and are outpatient procedures.

What Does the Mini Tummy Tuck Look Like?

Our patients love the results of our mini tummy tucks. Dr. William J. Vinyard, MD, FACS, has developed a trained, skillful hand when it comes to tummy tucks and is nationally sought after for this procedure. As for our patients, we’ll let you read for yourself what they had to say about their tummy tuck results:

“My tummy looks as good as it did before I had children 45 years ago! I’ve dared to wear my first swimsuit in 20 years…” – A.I., Facebook Review.

“I am 100 percent satisfied with my body…I have three children, no more belly hanging…I am amazed. Thank you, Dr. Vinyard.” – J.C., Facebook Review.

“It’s been six months and my tummy tuck surgery is sooo smooth with no complications at all! The incision is very thin and undetectable when I wear a bikini.” – M.V., Google Review.

“When comparing surgeons, belly buttons and incisions are the main things to look at after safety and overall aesthetics. It was important to me to look natural. Dr. Vinyard really takes his time getting the incision line thin and symmetrical and I have yet to see him do a belly button that isn’t perfect. My belly button is cuter now than it has ever been. I am thrilled with my results.” – J., RealSelf Review.

How Long Does The Mini Tummy Tuck Last?

Since the mini tummy tuck is a surgical procedure that trims excess skin and removes fat,  it’s a permanent procedure! That means unless you have a big lifestyle change (sudden significant weight gain/loss, pregnancy, etc.), your tummy tuck will be an investment that will last a lifetime and age gracefully with you.
